The Ides of March

To celebrate the ability to calculate the circumference of a circle, we had our annual Pi Day Pie on 3.14. We've done this every year, but I don't think I have posted a picture until now.Above, Phoebe is painting a picture of a rainbow. She has officially entered little-girl-hood: she loves pink, babies, princesses, kitty cats, rainbows, horses....
Bubbles too. She is quite good at blowing them. It's a little more challenging to blow bubbles with a Darth Vader mask on, but the heavy Vader breathing sounds right on.Bruce has about a dozen loose teeth. I told him when they fall out he is going to have to eat applesauce and baby food for months until he grows new ones. He is also going to make the tooth fairy very poor. This morning Bruce was eating his breakfast and one of his front teeth started bleeding. I refuse to yank teeth or even look at them (especially while trying to eat my breakfast), so I sent him to school with a dangling tooth and I'm hoping it falls out there where I don't have to deal with it. Speaking of stuff we don't have to deal with anymore, we're done with this debacle. Finally; no more ranting.

Summer of the Video Game

Bruce has a new best friend - who just so happens to live underneath us. This convenient arrangement means Bruce often goes downstairs to play while the girls nap, or T comes up here to escape from his two sisters. They've had two sleepovers this summer and wish they could share a room all the time. Apparently being separated by 10 feet is too much.

I asked Bruce why he liked his friend so much. He said, "He has way more video games than me." Hopefully that means Bruce likes that T is good at sharing.

Indeed, their favorite activity is to play video games. T has a Wii with Lego Star Wars. We have a Star Wars "plug and play" game (the Darth Vader-shaped controller is in T's hands) that isn't that fancy, but still captivates the boys for a few minutes at a time.

Summer is nearing an end: school starts in a little over two weeks. Time to put the video games down...

Peas Please

Bruce got a few seeds and paper cups from an Earth Day activity at the Children's Museum. We planted the peas and when they outgrew the paper cups, we transplanted them into a pot. We don't have any dirt included with our condo, although we're on a waiting list to get a community garden plot (we're told it'll be three more years!). For now, the pot in the window will have to do. We've been hanging string to hold up the pea plant, and yesterday the vine made it to the top of the window. Now what?!We've loved watching the tiny vines wrap around the string and climb up the window.
And completely unrelated from peas is this photo of Bruce, dressed as Darth Vader with a baby blanket for a cape and a Bumbo chair for a mask. Frightening, isn't he?
